A Song for Osiris

Osiris

Benfield & Delamare produce this lively, fruit driven style, more suitable for early drinking but with enough firmness to develop over the next year or two.

We are often asked why we called the wine A Song for Osiris. To clearly differentiate this early release from our principal label we named it as a small tribute to the ancient patron of the grape and wine. It was to Osiris the Homeric Hymns ascribe the discovery of the grape in the mountains of Nysa, "With forests thick in Phonice afar". According to Greek historians, Osiris at Nysa, learned how to use the grape for wine and brought the culture of the vine and use of wine to civilisation.
